Anyone have feedback on Fixe ropes.  I've personally run BD and mammut.  Been happy with both had general longer longevity with the BD's but felt a little better feeding and handling with the mammut.  Finding a few good deals on fixe but I have no experience with them.  Looking at the siurana

I had a siurana that I abused for 2 years of route development. It flattened (in cross section) the first day I used it, but it didn’t effect handling. Tons of drill dust, rope soloing, jugging, basically all the mean things you can do to a rope. In my experience their ropes seem as good as any other manufacturer. I bought another Fixe rope recently since it was also a good deal.

I haven't kept up in the last few years, but Fixe used to sell Roca ropes for a good price. Then BD started selling them, I believe marketed as their own, for a higher price. I'd imagine they're probably still the same ropes.

Owned by Fixe. They started business in 1983. Good and reliable ropes. Flexible and with a highly resistant sheath. They were purchased by Fixe as the original company was Roca, which specialised in making climbing ropes.

So old Roca ropes are now Fixe ropes.

Fixe also manufactures Alien cams.

BD moved to tendon(same as mammut), people were not impressed with BD's initial offerings which is presumably what caused the switch.

I have a 40m 10.2 and it's holding up well

I got one recently, nice and supple. My friend bought a different model, very stiff. Too soon to say on durability/handling. Price was good 58 grams per meter for 9.6 I think. Guy at the shop says all ropes come from 1 of 8 factories.

Roca ropes are fucking amazing. The 9.0 and 9.2 dry are super good ropes.

Roca ropes

Are they marketed Roca in the US or under the banner Fixe-Roca?

I believe Fixe took on Roca a while ago but dropped the Roca name more recently. They've been making ropes for over 100 years in a small village in Catalonia. Chances are if you've climbed a few seasons or have owned a few ropes you've handled a Fixe rope. Many rope brands have had a rope or two come out of the Roca/Fixe factory. Not too many bells and whistles with the last line they put out but they were true workhorses at a good price. The new quiver is looking good with "Fusion" that's very similar to unicore. I picked up the Pedraforca 8.8 and Rodellar 9.4 and they handle great. Not too supple not too stiff and holding up well.

Awesome ropes. Fixe bought them is my understanding. It is now, Fixe by roca.
They are very stretchy, which is not bad or good, just nice to know.... kinda the opposite of Maxim ropes which have a lower elongation than most.

and whoever said they started in 83'....Roca has been manufacturing rope for 100+ years.

Also, BD ropes are made by Lanex, not roca anymore is my understanding.

I have a Fixe Shark 70m 9.8mm dry rope. It's a great rope and I like the name.

Read my post carefully again. It's *Fixe who started business in 1983. They bought Roca because this company went bankrupt unfortunately.

*The parent company behind is "Tech Rock" as they also manufacture Alien cams and Faders (climbing equipment but ropes).

Formatting left a bit for my smooth brain to be desired. Clear as glacial melt now.
