5 New Unparallel Shoes In The Works
|
A few weeks back, Unparallel came up to our local gym and ran a shoe demo. Unfortunately for them it was a beautiful sunny PNW saturday so >20 people showed up, but it gave me the chance to talk with Sang Lee at length and he was very friendly. He told me about 5 new shoes coming down the line. First is a duo of new lace ups. One is a stiff, flat lasted shoe with to-the-toe lacing based off of the old 5.10 Newton. This will have their hardest RA rubber and will be significantly stiffer than the current UP Lace, and he said will be great for all day climbing and multi-pitch. The other one will be a performance lace up that he compared to the TN Pro, and will have RH rubber. He said both of these are finished up and they are just waiting to release them. He maybe said next spring but I can't recall. He said they are also working on an Up Mocc Pro and a Vim Pro. Both of these will have single strap velcro closures. The mocc will be basically the same shoe, but the vim will have a wider throat opening because he said the current version is waaaay to hard for people to get on their foot. He said these will be coming out after the lace ups. Lastly he said they are working on a new budget performance shoe, but he did not give many details, it sounded like it was still very much in development. He said it would have performance like the Flagship or Qubit but be $150. What do folks think? I am personally excited for a stiffer all day lace up with UP rubber. |

I think most people would be more stoked about better customer support on existing models |

Intrigued by the performance lace up. Really like the tn pro but feel it lacks sensitivity so maybe the softer rubber will help. I have a pair of the qubit and really dislike them. Maybe the vim pro will be a replacement for the five ten team? |

We need a Super Up Mocc! Was waiting for years for Five Ten to bring back the SuperMocc but it never happened. |

Did they tease any improvements to their Customer Support? |

Sam Ehmann wrote: The budget shoes are the Float and Beat. Expected to be released spring or summer 2025. For reference, I have narrow greek feet. Five Ten Team and Hornet fits me perfect. Flagship is a bit baggy at the heel for me and the Flagship Pro fits me better. The Float is essentially an entry level version of the Flagship with more volume and a stiffer midsole. It fits and feels a lot like the 2018 Five Ten Quantum VCS. Like the Flagship, the Float uses the softer RS rubber. The Beat is Unparallel’s new entry level lace up. It fits like a mix of the Five Ten NIAD lace and 2nd gen Quantum (blue). It's wide and high volume. Asymmetrical lacing system. Uses RH rubber. |

The alligator eats the bigger number. |

Someone shake me awake when they release an EXACT version of the old Galileo… |

The only UP shoes worth buying are the flagship lineup, souped up, newtro, and quibit. If you were a fan of the 1st and 2nd gen hiangles, the quibit is the shoe for you. It’s an improved version of the regulus. Waaay better than the adidas hiangle. If you were a fan of the team, souped up are the closest to them that I’ve tried on. Unfortunately, the souped up heel is bigger than the team which is a shame because these were the closest of any shoe (in my opinion) to being a direct replacement to the team. |

Like others have said, I wouldn't buy another shoe from them until their customer support gets better, answer the phone or email. I definitely wouldn't order from them online until their support gets significantly better. |

Don’t buy directly from UP. Their customer service is lacking. If you can, buy UP shoes in person at a gym or store and from sites like backcountry. Return policy, customer service, and even pricing are better from 3rd party than buying direct from UP. |

If you ever return anything directly back to UP, save your return tracking number and include it in your email to them after it's delivered. It's the only way to get a return with them processed correctly, unfortunately. |
