Reel Rock 18 good/worth?

Hi!

I am from a country where the dollar is more than 5x my currency so is quite pricey to get a $34 movie. Wondering if is worth to spend it.

Thanks.

Stories were great but nothing blew me away.  I would wait until it shows up on redbull if $$$$ is an issue.

Subpar compared to past years imo. They are starting to seem incredibly formulaic but maybe that's the nature of it.

They should be paying you to watch it. It's pretty much one big ad campaign aimed at convincing non-climbers that they'll get noticed if they dress up in overpriced neon, go outside, and yell a bunch.

It was missing some Alex and Tommy haha.

Honestly I haven’t been really psyched on an episode since the one with Brad and Alex doing the nose record.

I enjoyed it a lot, I personally like the more recent RRs a lot more than the old ones.  But paying the equivalent of $170 (5x$34) to see a movie feels excessive lol.

I liked this year’s movies, but that’s too much. You might consider doing a watch party. If you could get 8 people to go in, you’d be at the right price point ;-).

Two of the films are excellent. One is about a truly serous and aesthetic climb in Japan, and the other is about the effects of war on climbing culture in Ukraine. You’ll think a bit more highly of Matt Groom after seeing it.

We almost walked out. The last short was long and has little climbing in it, not to mention it was about indoor climbing.  Not worth the money.

I liked it, as seemingly did all of our friends. A good amount of variety for climbing films. But, yes, for you maybe too expensive unless, as suggested above you can get others to chip in.

The trad and alpine are really rad. IMO the trad film will be even better if it had a few more minutes exploring the philosophy/spirituality of Sachi Amma. That also give us aging climbers hope that we could still do something rad haha. The other 2 are not bad but not too impressive. I'd say it's worthy as any average RR years.

Not worth it. Bonus episodes were better than the features in my opinion.

After the past few years, they'd have to do something that really blows me away for me to pay for it again.

I got an RR unlimied supscription for the year as a Christmas prezzie, only watched 2 so far 'Yeah Buddy' which I found entertaining, I went to university with Tim Emmett so I like to see him in stuff, doubt he remembers me at all. I also watched 'Climbing Never Die' and I am totally unashamed to say I cried at the end, Matt Groom has gone way up in my esteem he did an excellent job on this.

Edit: Typo

The movies were good and well worth a watch. Everyone’s a critic. It sounds like this is a big hit to the budget though, so if you’re cool waiting a year or so I’m sure you’ll be able to watch most or all for free.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
