A re-issue of the original Scarpa Boostic is due to be released in Europe by late this year or next year. No official details, but the sources are very credible. Hopefully they'll be available on Oliunid and other discount sites. Post up if you have confirmed details to keep the community updated.

Thanks for posting that catalog link. I heard there were photos of them out there. How will my feet get dyed blue and red now?

I think orange feet will work just fine

A lot of Scarpas pros who climb difficult bigwalls still use the OG Boostic. Best edging shoe out there

Reviving this rather than start a new thread. I’m tempted to buy a pair of the Boostic R from one of the euro sites that has them, but want to be sure to get the sizing right so I don’t have to deal with overseas returns.

I wear 40 or 40.5 in scarpa depending on the shoe, for a tight performance fit. Anyone have experience with either the original or the reissued Boostic and can compare to how you size other Scarpas? Would love if we were comparing to the instincts, but any insights appreciated.

For me:
Instinct VS/Booster - 39.5

New Boostic - 40

OG Boostic - 40.5

I’m 40.5 in instincts, and do 41 OG Boostic for performance fit, and go up several sizes for long routes.

Anyone have any more comparisons?  Especially with TC’s?  I’m a 40 in TC’s fit for performance edging in the Valley, but some references seem like maybe going up 2 whole sizes from this might be a good guess for the OG Boostic?  I also wear a 41 in the Vapor V’s for performance single pitch but those are super soft shoes…

Can anyone compare the performance and sizing of the new Boostics to the originals? Do they really climb the same? Are you wearing the same size?

Some data points for folks. Instinct vs 40.5, TC Pro 39. (Performance fit for both).

OG Boostics: 40.5 & 41 performance (depending on length, steepness of route); 42 for multipitch

The newest model, Boostic R: Fit is identical to old boostic. (I have tried them in two sizes, 40.5 and 41.5).

Here are some thoughts about the new Boostic R. I've only done a bit of climbing in them, so take this for what it's worth...

In terms of support/stiffness I would put the new model in between the updated (Black and Blue) Boostic and the original model. In most ways, the Boostic R is identical to the old model. The randing, sole thickness and rubber, upper construction are all identical. They fit just like the original model. Basically, it seems like the shoe is put together just like the OG model. However, they are not quite as supportive feeling as the original. I think this comes down to materials. The upper materials are thinner and have a bit more give than the thick suede of the OG. I also think that the rand rubber is different. It feels stickier and thinner. On the original model, the point where the front strap and rands all join together is super stiff and inflexible. The stacked materials there seem to give the shoe a lot of the support they're famous for. The Boostic R is thinner and more flexible there. It is more refined and less bulky, but less stiff. They are far more comfortable out of the box; break in time is negligible. I think that if this new Boostic R had been presented as the updated Boostic back in 2021, folks would've grumbled a bit, but would've by and large been content.

From my perspective, I think that the differences between the OG Boostic and the Boostic R won't really be noticeable or matter in your ultimate performance size, but that if you are sizing them up for multipitch or whatever, then the difference in support/stiffness will be somewhat noticeable.

Do we know if they are going to make bigger sizes? Currently they are only manufacturing up to size 45, I am most likely going to need either a 45.5 or 46 and I am wondering if those sizes will ever get made.

I'm a boulderer that wants these as a shoe for vertical to off vert edging/niche circumstances. Would you size the same size as your Instinct VS? I want to not be quite as curled in them as I find foot articulation useful at these angles.

Thanks for the detailed update, Xan. If there’s someone who knows climbing shoes, it’s you.

I still have a pile of OG Boostics in the larger sizes, but I’ll try the smaller size and see how they perform.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
