Big rock fall at quarry wall North Table

The two routes next to short tour, the stimulus and the gnome are completely gone. Only the anchor hangs. A slab fell off the wall that it roughly 10x5 and broke into 2 pieces. There is a fractured ear now hanging above and to the left of short tour anchors.  That hole area seems like a scary place to hang out with the remaining pieces up above.

That's wild! Here is a pic I took a few years ago. Was this the flake that dislodged?

It was just above the roof about 11 o’ clock in your picture where the crack for stimulus is over to the gnome crack.

It’s crazy because a month or so ago I realized that the upper crux of Stimulus had turned into a full blown hand crack and was no longer all that difficult and honestly more fun. Bummer, I never got to red point that rig.

That boulder needs an FA as a 3 bolt sport climb.

Wow that's unfortunate, that top boulder was a lot of fun to! Here today.....gone tomorrow.

Reposting my comment on the route page here

After pretty substantial cleaning and investigative work on this post-collapse, we’ve identified a sequence through the upper section of the climb that clocks in at a relatively similar grade to the new line (maybe a letter grade or so increase). An application with JCOS to bolt the line has been applied for. If it is approved, I’ll replace the anchor with a stainless anchor with lower off hardware at the same time.

I never got on stimulus before the collapse, so I can’t speak to how it is different, but I can say the new upper crux is a wild and powerful ~V7 that involves some strong lock-offs, rowdy compression, some tight body tension, and even benefits from having a knee pad.

All credit to Alex for acting on a curiosity about the route post-collapse, doing a significant amount of cleaning work, and inviting more eyes on it. If it gets approved, it will be a great addition to the quarry wall haran circuit. If not, it will be a great TR in its own right.

Please be mindful that this is still cleaning up if you get on before a decision is made on the permit - brain buckets mandatory.

Question for the populace - if we do indeed get to bolt the new upper section, should it be posted under a new route or should we just update the information on this page?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
