Spain Climbing in June w/family
|
Hi there, I'm going for a family trip (2x adults, 2x kids 6 & 10) to Spain in June. I'm trying to fit in 1-2 days guided sport climbing for myself and the eldest: we are both long-time indoor boulder and top rope climbers (5.10c–5.11a) but will be new to outdoor. I'd love to break the seal somewhere amazing with the right guidance as we start to transition to outdoor climbing. |

Go to Cornudella de Monstant and connect with a shop called Goma 2. They will likely know the guides and such and put together a guided day or 2 in Siurana and the surrounding crags. |

Siurana will be hot in June and there will be really limited options in the shade in your grade. If you are flexible on region, I would consider picos or Santander instead of Catalunya at that time of year. |

SIURANA is not for beginners. You will hate sport climbing if you get started or are starting out in rock climbing as this crag is known for requiring finger strength and precision footwork in a vertical and slightly overhang rock for the lower grades. Only for peeps are comfortable with grades 7b/5.12b upwards. Let me suggest the following crags: 1. Liebana Valley (Cantabria) at the footstep of Picos de Europa. https://www.liebanaaventura.com/en/climbing-in-liebana/ 2. Teverga in Asturias which is also part of that region (northwest of Spain). https://rockaroundtheworld.co.uk/2016/10/08/teverga-spanish-climbings-best-kept-secret/ |
