"Chelan County Coroner Wayne Harris said there were no witnesses to the accident."

Sorry to hear it. "No witnesses"...Was he free soloing something?

People are always going to solo, I'm not here to bash on soloing or the deceased. I'm sure he will be deeply missed by his wife and child and everyone else who knew him. But you could field one hell of an all-star rock climbing team with all the wonderful vibrant souls who died soloing. That team will always keep on growing. It's clearly deep in human DNA to measure the risk-to-reward ratio and decide to risk all that could have been for the sake of a few deeply held personal moments. RIP.

Big loss for the community. Met Matt at this year’s NSAW and watched a presentation he gave on avalanche forecasting. Very passionate about his work and a thoughtful person. Rest in peace

Truly Sad.
