Anyone tried lead soloing with a Petzl ASAP instead of a GriGri?

I like that the Petzl ASAP feeds out rope automatically. The GriGri doesn't. Although the ASAP is toothed, it still pinches the rope to catch falls.

What happens when it locks up during a crux move? You’re kinda hosed…

No a good choice. It not meant to be a primary device in anyway, its there to back up a primary device.

Before I spend time explaining why they are shitty for soloing, have you ever used one and understand how it functions?
My guess is if you did, you would see how its not good at all for this task.

Look at the REVO if you want ASAP-ish function for LRS IMO

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
