Im new to climbing and haven’t ever really climbed in a gym, but Im wanting to get into climbing more. I’ve top roped with different groups of friends that are climbers and am wanting to start sport climbing. What gear would I need to get in order to start and what specific gear would you recommend?

Indoor or outdoor? What area are you looking at as your main crag?

outdoor

12 sport draws, 2 60cm slings and 2 lockers, 70m 9.5-9.8mm dynamic rope, belay device, harness, shoes, helmet, chalk bag, IKEA bag

that’ll get you up and down most things safely

Indoor

Harness, shoes, belay device, chalk bag

Have you asked your friends who climb this question? What did they tell you?

They said a harness, rope, quickdraws, a belay device, shoes, helmet, and chalk bag. Do you have any brands you might recommend?

Ok thank you! Are there any brands you would recommend or specific products you use and like?

If you are on a shoestring, just get cheap stuff from REI/Backcountry/etc. If you have baller money, I would do Petzl Spirit express draws, 9.5 edelrid rope, BD solution harness, Petzl GriGri, BD Vision Helmet, BD Liteforge screwgate 3 pack, 2x 18mm 60 cm nylon BD runner, and a BD Pipedream backpack
