These boots look interesting. I can't seem to find any photos of the liner. Anyone seen these in person, or better yet climbed in them?

I've seen videos, photos and asked a question on Salewa's site. The liners don't come out.

I've had these boots for the last 15-ish months. I've climbed with them every season. They're comfortable but not the most comfortable. On long days they do tire your feet out. They climb better than any boot I've ever used. Liners don't come out, boot itself is warm. I've gone up to 0 F.

I would be hesitant to recommend these boots for the following reason... While climbing this past weekend the Velcro strap ripped off the foam attachment point making the boot useless for climbing. Currently waiting to see if my warranty claim will get accepted. For a grand it's kind of ridiculous Salewa didn't think to make the foam attachment point for the Velcro strap carbon fiber as well.... It's just hardened foam.

Overall:

Comfort 7/10

Climbing ability 10/10

Walking ability 10/10

Hey Ben, how did you find they did for warmth? Any other boots you might be able to make a comparison to? Guessing they are in the realm of the new G/Phantom Tech's?

Based on my experience in those boots the salewa sounds warmer if he's comfy at 0f.... Phantom techs i can only use to about 10f comfortably and I run warm as you know

How much do the boots pack/break in? If my toes are touching the end brand new will it improve?

Keys,

I can’t speak to the pack-out potential since I didn’t end up using these as my daily boots. In my experience, ice boots don’t typically pack out as much as ski boots do. The last pair I had that did pack out a bit were the old orange Koflachs with the thick liners.

Anyone reading this. The Salewa toe box will pack out with use. Lace locks and new laces are clutch.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
