Please take my Joshua Tree campsite reservations Feb 16-19

Obviously you can’t technically transfer recreation.gov reservations, but I can no longer go over Presidents’ Day weekend (have to go to a funeral) and am wondering if someone is willing to pay my cancellation fees in return for coordinating the cancellation so that you can snap up the sites as soon as they become available. I.e., we could be on the phone together while I cancel them one by one.

I would just swallow the loss but there are three separate reservations because I couldn’t get a single site for all three nights, so that’s $30 total cancellation fees. The reservations are as follows:

Feb 16-17 Indian cove 89

Feb 17-18 black rock 005

Feb 18-19 Indian cove 54

A bit of a faff to move every day, but they’re prime dates!

Just FYI, sites don't immediately become available on cancellation. There's a delay. But I've just given people my campsites before when I couldn't use them. Just send them the reservation number or a .pdf of the reservation info. Camp hosts won't usually demand that the person on the reservation be present. They just want to confirm the site is occupied by the party that paid for it. If it's not, they cancel the reservation after 1 day and give it out in person. But not an issue here.

I have canceled some reservations at Red Rock on Recreation.gov, coordinating this in real time with Max Tepfer who picked up these sites a few seconds later. Ymmv…

Good to know. I've had it not work out that way.
Unlike things like a Mt. Whitney permit, I don't think there's actually a requirement that the reserving party be present in the campsite. Or at least, I've never had them ask. They just wanted to see a print out of the reservation and associated info.

If anyone is interested in taking my reservation, I’m happy to do it either way!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
