XC skis and mountianeering boots?
|
Been doing some searching, haven't found much. Anyone know of bindings that'll let you use mountaineering boots on skis? Or anyone have a set of old crampons laying around so I can make some? |

For "easy like a fire road" approaches lots of climbers still happy with Silvrettas. You ain't going to be shredding the pow in them tho. |

Silvrettas, but they are difficult or impossible to find. No longer being made. https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Amountainproject.com+Silvrettas |

Stiff mountaineering boots will only "work" with hinged frame bindings like the old silvrettas. I'd love if a boot mfg would put tech toes in a B2 boot (like the ribelle tech) which would probably just flex enough. But alas, most folks have just settled on light AT boots as the answer for skiing and climbing. |

Silvrettas are on ebay. The 500 seems like the lightest, and it's the newest. I currently use 404. Super heavy... I'm surprised that nobody is making a good setup today, considering how much easier it is to do cottage manufacturing compared to the 80's and 90's. |

the ramur cable bindings work pretty good untill the cables break. I used to get them two pairs for $14.00 the last pair I bought was $30.00 those cables broke a month or so ago. Finally got a pair of Silvertas for $154.00 can't believe I paied that much dough for 30 year old bindings. i hope they last a LONG time. they do work much better than the ramurs. |
