Hi MP,

just filed a patent for a semi permanent biner bar, just wanted to get the communities input, I made these removable biner keepers for carabiners to solve the issue of, wanting to help out my local crag the best way I could while on budget.

trying to look for steel wire at the moment, but this is the copper prototype, I’m going with steel keeping in mind the topic of electrochemical gradient.

what are you thoughts? Thanks!

Ouch. Hope that filing didn’t cost you much

Woah never heard of this brand before, and no, the filing only cost $100 but I guess it could been better spent on some cams or shoes, haha thanks for the link, guess I’ll just keep mine to myself.

SMC bolt hangers are everywhere in California, especially older places like jtree and Yosemite.

I appreciate your intention to help your community by inventing cool stuff, but I just want to say that filing a patent on your idea negates any karma you might think you're getting.

For your next idea, just share it freely. So many other people on here are doing the same already. Go read the 3d printer thread. Hell, the open design of the hurley bolt puller was refined further by Cletis to near perfection and you can still get the plans for free.

It's the people who keep niche gear designs open and collaborative that are the true heros.

Planned on donating all the biners to my local crag anyways but thought it would be smart to officially file this in case it was an original idea, but now I see that’s not the case, thank you for all the info and input though!

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
