Looking to climb near Bishop California. I havent had many people to climb with so I am not too great at leading yet. I can belay anyone, but I lead climb at a beginner level. I am looking to lead some climbs to gain confidence, but will need patience. I weigh about 200 pounds. I have all the sport gear needed and will carry it to any location we want to climb.

You may want to find people at the gym before tackling crags like Owen’s River Gorge?

I’m also about 200 pounds trying to lose some holiday weight climbing at the gym, and understand that it’s not easy to find a partner.

Get used to leading indoors then transition when you are comfortable climbing up to 5.11-ish. From there, it’s easier to lead sport climbs outdoors in the 5.10 range. Start a full number grade lower until you know how to read rock better.

Hey Aaron, take a look at Bishop Partner Find and Meet Up on Facebook if you haven’t already.  Good luck.

It’s not easy to use. It’s an easy clip, but unclip is pretty tough on over 30 degree overhangs.

I doubt he is climbing 30 degree overhangs?

At this point im just trying to figure out how to remove the post. Its clear this isnt helping me find a partner and im not interested in hearing someones opinions of what i should climb, when they arent interested in climbing with me.

I was able to delete my post in a different forum category, but it doesnt appear that I can delete this post.
