Hey all

Looking for the list of the hardest climbs in San Diego County (excluding obvious eliminates and places with significant access issues, i.e. Rainbow). List can include unrepeated climbs and open projects. I don't think I've stumbled upon much over 5.13b/8a or V11/8A, so curious what other climbs might be out there. What do you all think?

There is a steep bolted route at Descanso that was supposedly in the 5.14 range, though I'm not sure it ever got done. Walk left of the main wall to find it. Outside of that, seems like there are some bolted .13+ routes going up at El Cajon now, though I have not checked them out.

Here’s my guesses. Im not sure about bouldering at deerhorn, but I know there’s some 5.13 routes there

Trad: Lifeblood 5.13. Lake Ramona, FA: Aden Parker

Sport: Wynter is coming 5.13d. El Cajon, FA: Gordy Schafer

Boulder: Asylum V10. Mt Woodson, FA: Dan Beall

I feel like the toughest boulder is almost surely some highball tucked away somewhere deep into culp valley. Just too much untouched/high density rock there for that not to be the case.

As to sport, yeah, I bet Gordy's routes are probably it.

Hardest sport? Surely it's at the fabled, steep, world-class crag up in San Luis Rey Canyon that is on the La Jolla reservation.

There are a couple of accessible V11/12's at Woodson, and there are definitely more obscure ones scattered around the county.

Misspent Youth V12 (Woodson, unrepeated)

America, Fuck Yeah V12 (Woodson)

Italian Arrogance V10/11 (Woodson)

Asylum is probably harder than V10

Dan Beall had a project near the summit of Woodson that looked pretty elite level but he never completed it

And there are a couple V11's at Lake Ramona:

Blowass

Hulk Smash Low

Stefan, there are a couple v13s and v14s at mount woodson.

Invisible Monsters(the summit project Aden is referencing) is a really stiff v14 put up by Dan Beall

Squamish Shuffle is another dan beall v13

Hypnotoad v14, also dan beall

In Culp Valley:

There is a v13+ project on the Baja Booty boulder in culp valley

Also in that area is a potentially hard 5.12+ route that hasn't been done yet on a rock that has potential for things much harder

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
