My best friend and I want to summit attempt

Mt. Rainier in August when we visit for his b day from Boulder, CO.  We have the fitness- and have done multiple 14ers here.  I am experienced trad climber with some ice experience.  Would love to connect and manifest a trip with someone as we don’t really want to pay the 2k for a guide and all the training (if someone wants to guide us I’m also interested- as we don’t have glacier experience but living in Boulder CO there are many resources we can use to train and become competent)

Thanks yall! Let’s get after it.  The mountains are a calling and I must go.

August will be too late for a Rainier attempt given how conditions have been the past few years. The glaciers will be too melted out at that point to navigate easily and cross safely.

Depending what you like to do theres a lot of great alternatives that time of year. For alpine climbing, it will be a great time of year to climb things up in washington pass like southwest rib or paissano pinnacle to burgandy. Or for something a bit bigger, could do west or north ridge of Stuart; stanley burgner or west ridge on Prusik, or west ridge of Forbidden Peak. All classics in Washington.

If your group doesnt all trad climb, could scramble up black peak or do the alpine lakes travers.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
