Does any one make convertible mittens that are suitable for belaying? I love convertible mittens for rewarming my fingers. this would be the holy grail of winter sport and trad belaying to me

Probably Carhartt or OR, but you may want to consider fleece glove liners with leather work gloves like the Blue Hawk ones over them and a pair of mittens in your pack.

I'm personally not fond of flip mitts because they get drafty, and fingerless gloves have a more limited range of usefulness than thin gloves.

Andy Kirkpatrick would disagree with.

MHW, Lowe Alpine, and some of the fishing. Hunting companies make some decent ones.

They can be floppy and breezy

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
