I have no issues with folks that can't or don't desire to lead.  In my book they are 5/5 stars for being a safe and game partner.  The best ones though try to share all of the non-leading loads as well - knowing the route, re-racking quickly between pitches, packing sandwiches etc... I feel like there is so much more mental load than just the leading itself.

Back when it was still neat to talk about the “sharp end,” we called them “dull-ards.” Which is great, because it’s a funny word. But it didn’t take.

No wonder?

Clearly the appropriate title for such a partner is caboose

I generally like to lead everything on training days, multi-pitch usually and I've gotten into killer shape with these types of partners. I called them climbing partners.

Belay angel. I have no issues with that. People who don't carry gear - they can fuck right off
