Gerry finally delivered.

17 bucks for your stylish Gerry branded R1.  Full zip in grey, black, and blue

Hooded grid fleece, no chest pocked, two standard pockets, no thumb holes.

A while ago Costco made a grid fleece but no hood.   Still a great layer.   This piece fits less snug than an R1 but arms are long.  Which is great if you’ve got long arms/don’t want your base layer inching up when climbing.

I’d say size down if you want the similar to Patagonia trim look but I went with true to size at 6’ 180 lbs (medium) and it looks good.   Something I’d wear to a restaurant/work without feeling too weird where my purple form fitting R1 would look a bit… sporty

Edit:
I hate posting pics of myself on the internet but in an effort to help the dirtbags/young broke climbers here you go.   Wish they had something like this when I was stretching my dollar to get climbing gear and clothing.

edit: I didn’t check the women’s section.   I’d be surprised if they made a specific woman’s model, but maybe.   These go down to small with fairly unisex colors and fit so if you’re a woman’s medium you’d probably be ok.

I'm guessing Gerry Lopez is cashing in on a "Gerry" brand at Costco now? He did a soft-top surfboard at some point, I believe.
Not to be confused with Jerry of the Day. Gerry Lopez was a North Shore charger* that retired to Bend to snowboard later in life.

Do you know if it's the same material as the R1 by any chance?

Hey Nick it seems like a very similar weight.  Material is not identical, the grid fleece on this has more squares/inch.   Idk if/how that matters.  Interior feels softer than my R1 but that’s probably just used vs new.

SLC has the world's largest Costco. I don't know if that means we have a larger size selection for each product, but we do have a super wide range of candy bars.

Hot Dog + Soda + perfect climbing layer = $18.49 - I am going today

Surprisingly this was at the “smaller” still huge Sandy Costco.   I am not fit enough or wealthy enough to get lost in the SLC location.

The Murray one is not that bad though I can’t remember the las time I went to the sandy one!

Fits very comparably to the old R1. grid feels closer to the MH version. hotdog and soda were also good.

Tried one on today at Costco. The small felt like a tent on me (5'8, 145 lbs, short arms). No sizes below a small. If there was an XS it seems like it would have fit.

I never liked the fit of the R1 either, so R1 fans may like this one.

Gerry makes great stuff.

Their stretch soft shell pants have held up way better than my Pranas. Climbed in the fleece lined version today.

Picked up one for the wife and I today. Quality seems good.  The grid is smaller, and perhaps slightly less warm.  They also run big IMO. I’m usually a medium and the small fit me best. Overall a great layer and I’m happy.  The hot dogs and soda give me the worst burps though!!

They're on sale now for $4 off, so 12.99 in store. Definitely run very large (not just the chest, also sleeve length - I'm 6' & 175lbs and the S is a comfy snug fit, the M is roomy).

Received one for Christmas and it fits great . I’m 6’5”, 230 and XL is perfect.
