Most Aesthetic 5.10s at the Red River Gorge
Some buddies and I are making a trip to the gorge for the first time soon, and I was wondering what folks thought were some of the most aesthetic 5.10 sport lines in the area? There seem to be a lot of great looking cracks in that range and below, but I am hoping to shoot some photos and I am the only trad climber in the group. Cheers! |

Off the top of my head: A Brief History of Climb—10b at The Gallery in the PMRP is aesthetic and photogenic as well as a lot of fun. |
That one is high on our list just for how fun it looks! |
A number of other good routes in that grade range at The Gallery but that one is, in my mind, the most aesthetic as well as the most fun. |
To Defy the Laws of Tradition 5.10a (Left Flank) comes to mind. |

Amarillo Sunset |

While Amarillo is indeed a very aesthetic and photogenic pitch, it is very definitely NOT a 5.10!!!! |
10d, it’s so soft at 11b |
oompa and loompa ! Photogenic either against the trees to the left or wall to the right |

If Amarillo is unoccupied (pipedream?), I would love to give it a shot! I just don't want people waiting in line while I hangdog a classic lol. Oopma and Loompa look good! |

I've been to the Shire plenty of times when no one was on Amarillo but that may not be the case now that it's sending season. Other good options would be Tesseract (Portal), EGBG (Chocolate Factory), and the Dong Wall (South Park). If you'll be at the Gallery I definitely recommend jumping on Johnny B Good, it's an 11a that is really easy to take down because the middle section is like a 5.8 with all the meat of the route in the overhang with great jugs. |
A couple of other possibilities are Breakfast Burrito and Fire and Brimstone at the Drive-By. Whipstocking at that crag is an 11a that is photogenic and might be worth trying. |
Lightning Rod Arete. Everything else is just a smearing of chalk up a normal face, not aesthetics! |

The quest and rock wars |

Thanks for the input everyone! Adding these to our list |

If we're talking about pure visual aesthetics of the rock, the 10s at Tectonic Wall and Strawberry Fields at Fruit Wall are some of my faves. |
