Deer Creek Falls 11.11.23, Ice exists top to bottom, but the falls are still running and spraying pretty intensely on the sides and underneath and we deemed the upper portion too unformed to climb. I'm not very good yet and didn't bring a wetsuit with me..

"Doesn't anyone have recommendations for WI3-easy 4 around Salt Lake City that are good? I'm fairly new, and I've already had Child Protective Services called on me once. Any advice would be appreciated." Edit: what about Sundial Falls? |
|
My partner lead, I followed Sundial Falls 11.15.23. My first time here so idk how this looks in comparison to past years. Section two thirds up was pretty wet and chandeliered. Approach to lake is mostly all dry with some trail ice the last mile to lake. No real snow until approaching the falls. Edit: when we first glimpsed the route on our way to the lake, we both thought it looked much more thick than it turned out to be. |

Some beta second hand and weather is shifting this week, but at the moment:
The lower part of Mirror Lake was quite dry today, if we are lucky it gets cold and the road stays open. |

Anyone have info on current driveability of the Santaquin Canyon Road? On their website it says the road’s closed to vehicular traffic due to road damage? |

John Sigmon wrote: Its been closed since I moved here in 2019 I think, or at least the last few years. Just have to park at the bottom and walk up. It's not a far hike. |

Double J wrote: Ah, I thought they opened to the second gate (Trumbolt Picnic Area) during the summer/fall. Then when I checked the site and saw "road closed" I got confused and thought maybe access to even the lower gate was a no go, but sounds like I have just confused myself. Thanks JJ |

John Sigmon wrote: All gates are closed. I went up in September and they've moved the sign to the first gate and put up construction barrier to block gaps, posted larger signs. I ran into a couple walking that said they live a house near the canyon who said that the Forest Service had stepped up enforcement. A neighbor of theirs was fined $200 for walking their dogs on the road. Arguments from higher-ups being the road can't handle any vehicular traffic so SAR can't get up the canyon so they don't want people going up. Just a heads-up. |

Well that is not good news. Maybe come down from the top? Can you drive up there in the winter? |

novmber wall 11/22/2023 1 qouater of the wall is in. it might melted thought i wasin a tshirt the entire time |
|
11/22 nothing in lcc in. Gwi trying, upper super slab trying but neither “in”. Scruffy just water, hogum barely had ice crystals. A pic on fb of gwi from today honestly looks the same or worse than 11/22 11/23 hidden haven partially formed but not “in” |
|
Apron is wet but climbable without getting too wet. Bit thin for most probably.

John Sigmon wrote: If you're making calls John, could you confirm this with the Forest Service office? Bringing pics of signage over from the Willard closure to here for convenience. |

Well the NFS says its closed to all use due to construction (they’re trying to repair the road). They said they’ll get in touch with the city to update them. Likely into next year but no end date currently available. |

anyone now condtions on pure fun in battle creek canyon? |
|
Last chance falls was pretty sad today, super thin on the bottom, just snow in middle, upper portion fairly narrow and very broken/picked out. Still nice enough for some early morning laps |
