Rad history, man. I didn't know Rockwerx used to own Solid Rock! Thanks! Love the faux rock walls. Hate the real rock pebble floors. How did THAT idea ever get traction??

There wasn’t anything safer and cheaper than pebble floors. The pebbles gave way to limbs. When the switch was being made over to gymnastic flooring broken ankles etc shot way up!

We now mostly see thicker floors that give better but the pebble thing, when done correctly, was kinda nice.

My original gym, also built by the precursor to Rockwerx, had drains installed under the floor so that the rocks could be hosed down for cleaning.

Yea, it was “Solid Rock”, I couldn’t remember the name.

Before I was involved Cort wound up majority owner in my gym because the original investors stiffed him on the build bill, allegedly almost putting SolidRock out of business. I only met him once 10 years after and he hated our gym so much I could still sense the anger.

I think they (Solid Rock Wall Systems) only owned the Old Town location.

We asked about the chalk tick marks, chalk inside the crack as well as the holds but they said maybe someone put chalk on a stick and rubbed it in. It looks so tempting, plus they still have Halloween hands in it. Too bad…

You could always write the site manager and ask about changing the ropes so that you could try climbing it.
