Decent spec for $2k but you might do the same and get a carbon frame for the same price from Canyon or Fezzari? Steel is real but plaster is faster ... speaking as a former Surly devotee.
Have you considered going with a frame with wider tire clearance? 2.2 on the Ruut Rondo is pretty skinny if you ever want to venture into desert sand or loaded bikepacking with more than a gallon of water on the frame.
I ride my fatbike with a 29x2.6-3.0 wheelset and Jones bars for gravel. Just depends if you're racing or adventuring. I'm content with averaging slower on gravel if it allows me to ride the sand/mud/chunk instead of walk. But I also only consider myself competitive on mtb -- gravel is for "building the pyramid," so depends on your goals.
