Scarpa Generator Sizing

Posting my experience in case it might help others choosing size when ordering online (assuming you are not able to try in person).

I wear 45.5 in TC Pros (gen 1) and 46 (gen 2). Bought 46 in Generators and they feel way small. Ouch! Would like to try a half size larger but unfortunately they don't make them. Wondering if they will stretch.

Anybody else wearing both TC's and Generators? Same size?

Same size for me, I've only got a few days in them so far but I suspect there's so much padding in the generators eventually I'll want to go a half size down.

I think the Generators are a bit small for the sizing, and they do not stretch all that much  I wear size 46 street.  I initially bought the Generators in size 44.5.  I thought they would stretch, but they never did all that much.  Just too painful.  I moved up to 45.  It is probably also true that I am a foot pain weenie.  If my feet hurt I am not enjoying the climb, and I am also not climbing as smoothly as I would like.

Did you experience pain from the arch support at first and if so did it dissipate at all? These fit me good overall but the arch support hurts, hoping it’ll get better after climbing in them a bit

44.5 in tc pro, 46 in generator. SCARPA run way small! And especially so with the generator it seems.

43.5 in Generator Mid feels very close when new compared with 43.5 Katana lace & TC Pro in my trying-on.  I bought the Scarpas and have been slowly breaking them in.  They are getting better but I fear I may have gone too small.  My issue is across the top of the big toe, possibly also with length.  The arch and heel feel really good for me.  They do edge well & are precise, but obviously comfort is important so I might end up trying to get rid of them.

Update:  they didn't break in as much as I hoped.  I switched to a 43.5 Katana Lace and am super happy!  Now I want a high top version of the KL.

After a full season I can say they didn't stretch as much as TCs but for me the sizing isn't too different. May run 1/2 size smaller than TC or Katana but I have a pretty wide foot.

Enjoyed them more after breaking in, great for sustained edging and smearing or hand cracks. Not at all suited for .75 or smaller cracks.

Pulling this from the depths a bit, but I have been wearing the Vapor Lace for about a year now and really like them.  I am a street shoe size 12 with a wide forefoot, Morton's toe, high arch and narrow heel, and wear the Vapors in a size 45.  They fit very snug to start and stretch just right, but with a bit of toe bend.  I wear them for basically everything, but they are a bit soft for some things, and the toe-bend makes them not the most comfortable for cracks.  I've been looking to get a new all day, higher-ankle, stiffer trad shoe as the TC Pros never quite fit right and I think added to some problems with my toes/toenails; and the Evolv General wasn't my favorite, either, in the end... plus they were discontinued.

The other shoes I wear regularly are the Shaman Lace in  13/47, which fit snugly.

I ordered the Generator in a size 46, thinking that the extra size would allow them to fit more flat-toed than the Vapors but still snug, but they fit way baggier than I think the same sized Vapors would.  I tried them for a few pitches in the gym and they are just very loose the whole way around.  I'm planning to try them in size 45 and hope they'll work out.

If anyone is looking for a size 46, let me know.. I can't return them, so hoping to sell them or maybe even trade with someone that has a 45 that's too tight.

How does the Generator compare to the sizing of the Vapor V. I size the Vapor V in a snug toes curled fit and its the most comfortable performance shoe I wear.

Just to add another data point, I agree that Generators don't stretch as much as TC Pros. I do think for New TCs run maybe 0.5-1.0 EUR bigger (43.0 TC = maybe 43.5/44.0 Generator, depending on before/after the TCs stretch).

I'm US 10.5/11.0 street shoe.

I wear a 44.0 Generator for Creek handcracks, super-comfy fit with completely flat toes (I have morton's/Greek foot, so it's really important for me to have flat toes for my foot to slide in #1 sized cracks), or 43.5 Generators for more all-around Eldo multipitch or single pitch OW.

I wear 42.0 Instincts for sport climbing (tight, toes curled, but zero-pain while climbing).

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
