annoying "log in" pop-up

Has something changed, and one must now log in, simply to browse the website? 

If not, please don't pop up a prompt to log in every 5 seconds.

"Login with your FREE account and continue exploring."

And while I'm complaining, after clicking "Create Topic" in a forum, and logging in, one should be back at the form to...create a topic! Not dumped onto the home page.

Solved with PopUpOFF extension on Firefox. I have to turn PopUpOFF off in order to log in, but that's fine since I am usually lurking anyway. 

Still annoyed though.

+1 I check the forums via my work computer and I don't want to be logged in. I don't have the ability to install extensions on that computer. Even if the site just asked one time per session I would be fine, it is super annoying to have it pop up constantly.

I'm guessing onXs needs to get more users registered to show site growth as means to help justify all of the funding that was raised. I'd expect more "dark ui/ux" patterns to be rolled as "features".
