BD Z4 Trigger Wire is Fraying. Anyone Else?
|
I have a few Z4 cams where some of wires that connects the trigger to the lobes is fraying/untwining. This hasn’t happened for my older C4s that have an extra casing around the wire. Has anyone else had this problem? |

Yes, there's been multiple threads about this and I've frayed the wires on ~4 or so. You can replace them with either thin fishing line or metal wire if you don't want to pay BD to repair them. |

I have a rack of offset Z4s. Every one of them has experienced broken trigger wires. I’ve had to replace at least one side of each. I’m no longer supporting BD with my $$ |

How do you repair them? Do you do it yourself or send them off? I have 4 cams currently out of order due to blown wires |

Fishing line has held up for me. It's finicky to melt the ends because you can't let it catch fire or it gets too weak, and you need to make a ball that's just the right size so it fits in the recess. C4s/Ultralights and way easier in comparison. |

Tanner James wrote: I've done both. Here in CA Nomads in Joshua tree does a great job. If they're not available I've fixed them with both 1.5mm cord or fishing line. The fishing line was for a super tiny offset. The 1.5mm holds up great. |

I've used the "Cam Doctor" kit for years to repair trigger wires on cams, but there's no room on the Z4s to get the crimping tool in there. What's more, the wires and cable that BD use are smaller than what comes in the kit. BUT after much trial/error/searching I have obtained the tools and materials to do Z4s. No drilling required. Hit me up if you want me to fix your cams. Only $6. |
