I have Boreal G1 lites with intuition logan liners and purple haze overboots, and just scored an insane deal on brand new Scarpa Phantom 8000s (couldn't pass them up, even if I were to just use them ice fishing).
BTW - the Logan liners don't fit great in the scarpas, so even though it'd lighten them up a ton, I didn't like how they flexed in that particular boot. The Boreals are really llight in that set up but I haven't put them on a scale to really compare. Both are comfortable. What do people like up there now? Thanks!
Jimmy, they're the 8000 HDs (not the new ones with the heaters in them). Any point in trying to flip the Boreals and the 8000s and get the Scarpa 6000s with an overboot? That was sort of my 3rd option....
There is a very long format video on uphill athlete youtubw where Steve House talks extensively about climbing denali, he says he recommends the warmest boot you can get, specifically referencing the olympus mons boot as a very popular boot among his clients and other guides and that when he was guiding denali he would use a 8000m boot. I can't remember what he said about lower down but he seems to be all in for an 8000m boot higher up.
