La sportiva size changes list
|
So I know the new tc pros and katanas have gone down a size (new 42 fits like the old 42.5) and I recently got a pair of miura lace in my old size that were way too big as well Wtf!?! Is all across the board? So if you recently got a pair that have changed sizes please add them here as a psa so we have a list and know what size to get.

Old Muira VS: 42.5 New Muira VS: 43 But maybe it was just a hot day? So hard to tell. |

i bought new katanas in my old katana size and I find them unbearably tight and unwearable. not sure if it's as simple as a size conversion. i think they snuck in some shape changes too. |

Desert Rock Sports wrote: Hey, It’s been pretty well documented that the tc pros and katanas have changed sizes (and possibly shape to make them fit differently), and I literally had old pairs and new pairs in my possession in the same sizes at the same time (since then have sold the new larger ones that didn’t fit right) and tried them on, and compared sizes with a ruler. The brand new shoes are bigger than my well worn and broken in ones. Like way bigger. Especially the miura lace that hasn’t been updated

|
TC PRO: I went down a half size with the new version (new 45.5 fits like old 46). Both pairs are broken in and feel about the same size. |
|
New TC pros fit exactly the same as the old ones after breaking in for me |

I just got a new pair of Solution Comps and I'm 99% sure they're larger also. I've worn Solutions / Solution Comps for years and in a size 40 I've always needed about a week of using a plastic bag in the heel to get them on before they're broken in, but these go on easily with no bag and feel fairly loose...about what my 40.5s feel like or maybe even a touch bigger. Not sure if this was just a freak pair or if the size actually changed, but next time I buy a pair of Sportiva shoes I'll try them on even if I think I know my size. |

New fits larger in my experience. Old Katana 41.0 fit me like new katana 40.5. I unfortunately bought the new Katana in 41.0 first and had to off load them. My few pairs of old TCs had inconsistent sizing but I downsized the new ones just in case with no complaints. |

If you’re older, your feet do change shape, spread out, flatten out, and maybe do get a half size or so “larger” in the process. In street shoes, I’ve found myself buying a half size up from what I’ve bought for the last 30 years. I’ve also found myself buying women’s climbing shoes as of late. 38.5 women’s vs. 38 men’s Sportiva. Better fit, more comfortable, I feel no less a man for having done so. |

LL2 wrote: Not sure if you were responding to me, but I’m comparing to solution comps purchased a few months ago, not years. Sizing is definitely different, with the brand new 40s larger than broken in 40s I have with me as well. |

My old style Katana size was 41.5, so I bought the new style Katana in 2022 one half size smaller based on what other people said about the new style katana feeling larger. The new style Katana in size 41 fit very tight initially, but broke in perfectly within a couple weeks of climbing in them. I just ordered another pair of the same size Katana (41) in Dec. 2023, and I was shocked to find that the initial fit felt slightly larger than the well broken in pair I had in the same size. I'm not too concerned because the shoe is so stiff and will perform well as a crack climbing and multi-pitch shoe, but that's not what I bought the shoe for... |

So apart from the solutions and the S heel shoes I'm very wary of purchasing new revamped older models now |

David Burridge wrote: Maybe even more for some? I’m seeing about 1.5 sizes? New to TC pros and bought them less than a year ago. I wear 45 in Scarpa Vapour V yet 43.5 in TC Pro. The pros are admittedly a bit tight but seem to fit well for small cracks and edges outside. My Scarpa (45) fit perfectly and curl my toes nicely for edging in the gym. The TC pro (43.5) are reasonably comfortable on multiple pitch climbs. Went through 1 size adjustment with REI for the Scarpa. Tried 44 until I felt like my toes were breaking, after 3 months and 300+ climbs I exchanged them for 45. Perfect. My comfortable street shoe size is 46 (toes have 1/2cm space for my longest toe), LaSportiva Nepal EVO is 47, 45 in Scarpa Vapour and 43.5 in TC Pro. I spent an hour or more fitting them. Have to trim the toenails back, but perfect. |
