No BS accommodations for Red Rocks, bonus for great food spots

My partner and I are looking to do a trip to Red Rocks in April or May. We’re looking for some recommendations for either camp sites near by or hotel/motels that are reasonable and offer no thrills. Going to Vegas for a day sounds fun, but Im not sure I want to be in Vegas for a full week and a half. Apologies if this has been covered before extensively, but we’re trying to budget a trip to maximize climbing and minimize touristy sh*t |

Sockeye Scully wrote: If you want to camp, just reserve a campsite at the Red Rocks campground on recreation.gov . It's a fairly grim campground, and will be quite hot by May (limited shade in campground). But is well located and much less hassle than dealing with far-away or legally dubious free camping. Worth it to just get that site reserved now so you don't have to worry about camping. If you want to sleep indoors, AirBnB options in Summerlin are plentiful, reasonable priced, and generally pretty nice. If you get something on the far West edge of town it will be in a quiet neighborhood, close to climbing, and far from the Vegas tourist "thrills" you wish to avoid. Pretty straightforward, really. Did I mention it'll be hot be then? Good time of year for long shady routes in the canyons. Bad time on anything sunny. Plan accordingly. |

Also, now the Spring Mountains are closed due to the hurricane, and no idea when they will reopen. A very large area has been closed, per the map it also includes Lovell Canyon. See the other thread in this regional forum. |
