Idyllwild South Ridge Trailhead camping

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since i’ve camped at idyllwild and last time i went to the camping near (i think) south ridge trailhead (a few years back, so i may be remembering the area wrong), the road was fairly rough to drive. I’m curious if anyone has gone up that way to camp this year and what it’s like after all the snow/runoff. Thanks!!

South Ridge has been closed for several months now due to extensive road damage up near the trailhead. There are plans to repair it, but no projected date that I've heard of- apparently, contractors are focussed right now on Black Mountain Road, and South Ridge will happen afterward.

Additionally, I’m not sure if you could utilize the yellow post sites even if you were willing to hike in. I recall seeing some kind of yellow tape last time I did the south ridge about a month ago.
