These are supposedly the new blue ice tools.  Correct me if I’m wrong

This is what I saw. Supposedly available this year

Thanls for posting the links to the Blue Ice tools.

Interesting...they look more like quarks than nomics...and they have perhaps the "least" offset handle of all the tools that could be said to have an offset handle :)

Maybe a good alpine tool for Cham type stuff?

The Blue Ice tool was intently designed as an alpine tool with heavy influence from the North Machine.

So what does the marketing copy, or the word-of-mouth rumor mill, say about the advantages of the Blue Ice tool?  I like some aspects of it (like the grip rest and spike).  Other parts seem totally bland and normal (like the head and hammer/adze).  Other parts look downright weird (like the reverse curved bit above the grip rest.  Maybe they wil say that makes using the adze or hammer easier?  Picks look interesting.

Like always...we'll just have to wait and see how it swing :)

I haven't seen any marketing copy and haven't talked to anyone testing it to hear their thoughts. I held an early proto and swung it in the air a bit. The balance felt nice and it feels good in the hand.

Don't think this has been posted yet, an insta reel that just popped up on my feed:

They will be called Hydra, similar handle spacer system to Fuel, replaceable spike, 3 picks and pick weights that use the main pick bolt to fasten them, two different sized hammers.

Looks like they are going with a 2 bolt pick attachment. One of the best things the had going is all their pick fit all their tools.

You're right, I thought it was one bolt for the pick and one for the hammer, but now I see the pick has a second hole at the rear.

That Blue Ice tool looks like a 20 year old tool.

I have never been a fan of the BD pick-head design.  I am glad to see the changes to the head and pick design.

I imagine that existing BD tool owners will gnash their teeth, but I think this will be a good change for BD.

That seems to indeed be their MO

As long as we’re talking about tools: Not new, but has anyone used the Simond Mambas released last year?

Those tools look fun, and I'd love to try them,  I might buy a set as loaner tools.

Here's a link--from Italy because I'm on family ski vacation in Livigno :)

Hello ! Simond Mambas are nice, with a great handle, confortable and with a lot of room, even with big hands with big gloves. There is only one pick available for the moment, an ice and mixte T rated pick, not bad for soft ice and snow but not great for cold ice. A new pick for ice will arrive soon.

The pick at the bottom is nice, and the total weight is really low, 550g with the micro hammer. You can easilly change a pick in the field, if needed. Picks are the less expensive one, here in France. Only 25€, it's half of the price of a Petzl !

I think the only downsides of this ice tool is the low weight of the head and the thick pick, that make this tool not so great in hard ice.

(Sorry for my english !)

Another angle on the Hydras head. Also, those black BD Crampons(cyborgs?).

Cyborgs have orange anti balling plates and I believe it’s the Stingers that have the green ones. Maybe these are new all together?

Those are BD’s new crampon.

Looks like some shops are starting to get ready for a retail release? dicksclimbing.com/products/…
