Any Info on fall in RMNP this weekend??
|
I have heard a rumor that my good friend, Bailee, fell in the Park this weekend but can't find any information and she is not answering her phone. Does anyone know anything about this? |
|
My good friend knows, I met Bailee recently, she was so sweet & kind :( - PMing you his contact |

Hey Eva, I'm so sorry to be sharing the news over a forum like this from a stranger but I thought it was the right thing to do to reply since you asked. I just got a text from one of her friends that she fell 1,000 ft while scrambling and passed away. I came on mountain project to see if there was any additional information about it and saw your post. |

Thank you guys for responding. I did just talk to Tim. What a terrible loss, Bailee is one of the kindest, most impressive people I know. It absolutely breaks my heart. I'm so sorry to her family and her many friends. |

Bailee and I were not close but we knew each other from the climbing gym. We both were pursuing our first 13a, a goal to which Bailee so recently beat me to. We shared hangboard workouts and planned on getting on Hairstyles and Attitudes in Eldo together one day. I will greatly miss her presence at BRC. |

Patrick, I can relate- Bailee and I worked on our first .12s together and she beat me as well. It wasn't too long after that she started working 13s. She's such a tenacious and talented person. No doubt her spirit will be with you on H&A one day. I'm sorry you have lost a wonderful partner. |

I'm very very sorry to read this, Eva. Your friend sounded wonderful. |

https://gripped.com/news/climber-dies-after-fall-in-colorados-alpine/ If you know the name of Bailee's partner, please do not post it. Thanks. |

Just saw this on the news. So incredibly sad. |

I made a Memorial Post for Bailee for those who are interested: mountainproject.com/forum/t… |

Eva Raphael wrote: Hi Eva, This is a great idea, however Madaleine Sorkin (who, I believe, heads up the Climbing Grief Fund) mentioned elsewhere that their funding has been dramatically reduced by the AAC (which is the main source of funding, I believe) and I know, personally, many people who have benefited from the Fund's assistance in the past when faced with tragedy, and it's a very good place to donate to for those who want to help in a situation like this. As far as I know, Bailee's family hasn't asked for donations for direct assistance (or indirect donations to her favorite charities and the like) so if you're reading this and feeling like you want to do something, a donation to the Climbing Grief Fund would be very appreciated, I am sure. Disclaimer: I didn't know Bailee; just passing on some information I have about the Grief Fund generally. If there is a way to donate to help Bailee's family more directly, I hope others will post a link in this thread or in the memorial thread. Correction: I've been told that individual therapy grants are still available through the Grief Fund currently. Anyone wishing for further info can email grieffund@americanalpineclub.org and they'll get back to you! Apologies for the error. |

A gofundme has been set up for Bailee for those who'd like to contribute. |
