best major to improve climbing

Feeling overworked of school and missing climbing so figured id make this thread. What is the best area of study to complement climbing? Health exercise science to better understand how our bodies work, physics to better understand the force of falling on gear, geology to better understand rocks, med school to have the most money leading to more resources for climbing, environmental science (being out in nature while climbing), etc. ????

The one that you're passionate about and that you can earn a living from. There's more to life than pulling down on rocks.

Fritz is right as usual. Additionally, I can testify that geology has made no impact on my climbing ability. I'm still a terrible climber. Gives you a greater appreciation for the rock formations I suppose

No major, College is a distraction from climbing.

Physical therapy so maybe you can stay injury free and therefore climb more.

Business because typically there's no classes on Fridays and it's reasonably easy and portable.

One you can get a job with, be fully employed and make money, so you can go climbing. Don't over think it. A good life leads to good climbing.

Rope access has always allowed for plenty of time-off to climb, and good pay. A lot of climbers find their way into rope access jobs.

edit: you said best major… my bad. Perhaps a job without a major would be interesting to you. STAY AWAY FROM STUDENT LOANS MAN!!!

There's a huge disconnect here. You're feeling overworked, yet you list mostly intense majors that require lots of study and labs. Even my Comp Sci masters degree only allowed me 6 days of climbing one particular semester.

[Disclaimer: yes, the OP might appear to be from an AI-bot, but he does have a photo and joined MP in 2020. But only 4 posts in that time???]

lol not everyone has a mountain project account to constantly force their opinions on other folks. He said he’s overworked at school and you’re wondering why he hasn’t been posting much? How far down the mountain project rabbit hole have your fallen, sir?

Geology, physical therapy, or nursing. However, most of the best climbers I know are engineers...

Alright Marc, 2 problems: 1) I don't update my Gumby ass MP ticks but rather log on 8a.nu instead so defiantly not a bot. (Could create a whole other thread going off on this tangent). 2) I think your overthinking the basic question mate? The question was to explain what you think the best major is for climbing and why. Based on your response, I suspect you are indicating that you would studying something easy say, fashion and merchandising to minimize studying time and maximize climbing time.

If I had a redo I’d have done physics and minored in computer science. Physics is rad and  Computer science offers Tons of high paying remote “unlimited pto” jobs. My buddy works at a small startup and has had minimal issue taking off for a full month in the spring to go to the valley. However undergraduate physics is a pretty stiff major and can eat up free time.

JFC. I added the disclaimer for the MP folks who insist that almost every thread is either a troll or bot generated. I even said (ok, implied) that I didn't think you're a bot, but I was curious about the lack of posts.

While you asked that question, you also said that you're feeling overworked at school but then listed multiple majors that require a lot ton of work. I was trying to understand that contradiction.

Geology does not work.  My masters is the geology of bonticou,  I might know more about the geology of the gunks than most, but I still suck at climbing.

isn't college a complete waste of time, and especially money, these days?

The best climber in the world studied economics, so...
