Fall/summer housing swap?

Just putting out feelers - would anyone be interested in a housing swap, anywhere from a week or so to a couple of months? I live in Berkeley, but would love to spend some time in Bishop, Mammoth, Arcata, Groveland or some other area with good climbing. You can sample all the Bay Area things (restaurants, entertainment, etc.) while I briefly live out my fantasy of residing in a proper climbing area. Shoot me a message and we can talk if you're interested!

Edit: this worked out really well last year, and I'd love to do it again. Feel free to message!

Not really, but let us know if you buy a house somewhere that doesn't suck.

Wow, really not bringing the best of the crowd out on this one. I already live in the Bay Area but think it’s a great idea. Sometimes for my work, people need to move closer to SF for a short term for health care treatment (cancer treatment) etc. that might be a good avenue to help out and swap… just a thought.

It's really funny to me how much of a dick you can be online considering that you're one of the most empathetic, present people I've ever talked to in person.

Keel, I would possibly be interested but I'm highly skeptical you're keen on staying in a fixer upper mobile home in Angel's. Good luck though, I hope it works out for you! Berkeley is a rad place to be, and there's lots of seriously rad new climbing that's gone up in that area recently that will be in primo conditions during that time.

Uh, I did a house swap last winter with a friend who owns a place in Revelstoke. He jumped at the chance to spend extended time in San Francisco, be in a big city near the ocean, not shovel snow all winter, go to lots of live music, and not pay large amounts to stay in a hotel. Great deal for both of us. I tried for a couple years to find a place in Revy and there is a huge housing shortage, unless you pay a couple hundred dollars a night plus for Airbnb.

God, I wish! Who do you think I am?

BTW everyone I was born and raised in the SF Bay Area and just like to talk shit on the area any chance I can get.

For what it's worth, we've had a lot of success using homeexchange.com. We swapped our place in Chamonix with people who wanted to go skiing, ended up traveling through Australia, New Zealand and Japan for 4 months. The fact that there is a point system makes it a lot more attractive than having to find somewhat who wants the exact swap at exactly the right dates.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
