I’m going to be climbing in horseshoe canyon ranch for the first time. What’s the best guide book?

Can I get away with a 60m rope?

Any other good climbing in the area?

There is a ton of great climbing in the area. I recommend getting the Arkansas guidebook from wolverine publishing. It has all the areas including HCR. You can easily get away with 60m since most routes I’m aware of are under 100 feet.

Between MP and Fennel's Arkansas book, you would have plenty of information to have an enjoyable trip.

50m will suffice at most of Horseshoe and other areas.

Depending on the time of year you visit, preferred climbing style and willingness/desire to camp,  here's  other notable nearby areas to check out:  Sam's Throne, Steel Creek (70m needed), Cowell, Bigfoot Hollow and Fern.

Sam’s throne is one of the most fun areas I’ve climbed in. I don’t live in the area anymore but I want to make sure I go back and finish some routes on my to-do list

Adding to what others have already said... If you plan to just climb at HCR, there is a new HCR guidebook that just came out a couple months ago, and it can be purchased at the Trading Post at HCR when you check-in/pay.  Also, a 50m rope is sufficient for the vast majority of the climbs, but there are some that require a 60m...

There is also a lot of good climbing to be found outside the ranch.  Sam's Throne, Cave Creek, Candy Mountain, and Hudson Mountain are all pretty awesome and relatively close to the ranch.  If you plan to do much climbing outside the ranch, either MP or Cole Fennel's Arkansas Guidebook should suffice.

Thanks for the info!

I am going to be working in Joplin MO. Is there any climbing close enough I could do some evening climbing after work? Maybe something near Bentonville?

There are a couple areas within an hour of Bentonville searchable on here

Yeah, I looked at them. Nothing great looking. I was hoping for some hidden gem.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
