Crampon compatibility

I just got some pseudo mountaineering boots for some alpine approaches. I was hoping to use my crampons that I have for ski touring with them but the fit doesn't seem great. The new boots (LS Aequilibrium LT GTX) dont have much of a ridge on the front toe for the crampons to grab into. If the strap lost tension there is a good chance that the whole thing would slip off. Are these going to work for snow travel? Or am I going to die? The crampons are Grivel G12 cramp-o-matic that are several years old.

Those will not work, you need a "basket style" front of the crampon to use with those boots.  Like the below if sticking with Grivel

Grivel makes an adapter to put a basket on wire bail crampons.  Kinda like the one that Petzl has made for ages.  That is your ticket to ride.

If you are doing very moderate approaches it looks like you could thread a webbing strap over the top of the boot thru the loops on the bail. If you are doing anything serious enough that the crampon slipping would be more than an inconvenience, you need a proper binding for that style of boot.

Thanks everyone, the adapter seems like the best solution. I can't find Grivel's version in stock anywhere but I ordered the petzl version and will see if it works.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
