Updates on new gym in Madison, WI?

Has anyone heard anything about the status of Greater Heights Climbing? I'm pretty sure I signed up for updates, but haven't heard anything since then. I'm really looking forward to a new entry to our options for roped gym climbing here. I think the last I heard was that it was expected to open as early as May of this year, but clearly that's not the case.

Yes, they started construction October 2023 and are opening toward the end of 2024!

I got their email as well (at last)! Here's an Instagram link they included for others to follow along: https://www.instagram.com/gh.climbing/.

Where are they going to be located?

Not sure. We need one of those geoguesser people to find it from the photo in their email.

It’s on Rimrock.

It's across the stormwater pond from the new Rutabaga Paddle Sports location. You can see Rutabaga in the background on the right.

Found the application to the city, sounds like it will be half again the size of either of the Boulder's locations (12k square feet vs 8k square feet). No indication how high the walls will be.

That’s really small. I am shocked a big gym hasn’t come into Madison yet.

Single story gym, thus it will be a bouldering gym

I asked on Instagram and they say the walls will be up to 40 feet tall! Good news. Maybe that "one story" is just about how many levels of floors and not how tall.

Ha! Boulders is 40ft tall if you measure at an angle.

If you're being generous.

I’m not. Start at where the ceiling changes height towards the front and measure diagonally across the arch to the top. That’s RRG training right there.

Single story with 40ft tall top roping area (not measured on an angle ;) Stories refer to the number of floors.

This is the first specific date that I've seen.

Dang, I am coming home to visit my fam in November and was hoping to check it out while in town.  Next time for sure.

Just pre-buy a membership -- they're offering access a week early (under "Membership Benefits").

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
