Anyone have a favorite cheap climbing pant that they use?

There's tons of them on Amazon, but my experience with sporting clothing from Amazon has been hit or miss.

Another option is Costco. They always have a stretchy men’s hiking pant for $20-$25.

Based on a similar tip on MP, I picked up 3 of the cheaper Wranglers years ago as "throw-away" pants I wouldn't worry about trashing on off-widths.  They still look brand new.  I also find their high waistline makes for a better fit under a harness than typical climbing pants, e.g. Prana Zions.

Just buy Patagonia. They have fixed both of my 15 year old Rock Guide pants at least 3 times each now. No questions asked, never charged me a penny. I honestly don't remember how much they cost anymore, but after 15 years and 3-4 repairs each, it probably come out cheaper than Walmart + Amazon crap. It's also more eco friendly and if Patagonia's politic is your thing, it's a good company to support.

Here is the list of things they patched.

  1. Ripped butt seams on both pants, heheheh.
  2. Knee areas on one.
  3. Thigh Pocket on both pants, twice!
  4. Button and zipper.

Last time they patched the pocket, they had to sewn up a different color and material. Still going strong.

The best cheap option ~$25:

Bought a pair of these, used them on a whole bunch of climbs and they honestly are my favorite. I have used other brands like Prana, Patagonia and North Face but I get the same function and comfort that I would from these for just $25. So I bought like 3 pairs. Also, the thigh zipper pockets dont get caught up underneath your legloops like on some other climbing specific pants Ive used. Only issue is that the fabric starts to pill around the thighs pretty quickly. If thats not something you care about then these are a great way to save $$ but get the same function.

I ordered a pair of these.  I particularly like that they come in different leg lengths, as I have short legs.

OK, not cheap, but they seem decent for places that aren't Voo. What's weird is that they are holding up better than my BD pants, despite being much thinner - go figure.

Ok Nathan, now link us to an expensive pair of pants. Got anything made out of tiger leather or penguin down?

These are pretty good at $39: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C1NLLR2Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1

Ripstop stretchy nylon, although they are quite thin so not super durable. The stretchiness makes them very comfortable and easy to move around in. They have zippered pockets which is nice so you don't drop stuff on multipitch. Also 2 below-the-harness leg pockets which are awesome.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
