My go to shoe used to be TC Pros. Own 5 pair including new version (my newest pair, jury is still out on new version). Lately I've been climbing in Finale's and really like them, especially for face and slab climbing. Decent edging & crack shoe too. Not as stiff as the TCP. Sized up 1/2 size and now wear a thin sock. Still wear my TCP's for sustained crack and edging climbs and have also sized up 1/2 size on newest pair. Sizing up 1/2 size and wearing thin sock has made a big difference comfort wise especially for continuous long days/climbs.
LS Finales are the bomb. I’ve somehow found multiple pairs on sale for well under $100 each. Have a pair sized for all day comfort and another a half size down, also comfortable but a bit more performance (or maybe that’s just mental lol). For the styles I climb most (everything except for very overhung) they hit all the right notes
I have La Sportiva Katana Laces and Finales and I love them both. I mostly save my Katanas for harder climbs and use my Finales on everything else. That said my Finales are really good (I prefer them more than my Katanas) for the hard slabs in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Also Finales have a low toe profile so they jam thin cracks quite well. My street shoe is a 45 and in the new Katanas I wear a 44.5 and for Finales I wear a 44.
I'm actually looking to sell my pair of 44.5 Finales because they stretched too much for my liking. I've only used them for a couple months so they're still in good condition if anyone is interested in them.
Title. Trying to prioritize comfort yet not completely sacrifice performance on shoes that you can send all day in and not want to amputate the dogs when the sun goes down. This is the half assed list I have thus far, in no particular order. Looking for additional shoes of the same variety and/or input from folks who have the shoes on the list. My feet are messed up for various reasons and I don’t want to add to that when climbing, if possible. The list I have: Scarpa helix, tc pros, scarps veloce, La sportiva finale, la sportiva katana lace, (this one looks more technical and uncomfortable but has really good comfort reviews) and ye olde tarantulace.
My feet are not your feet. The rock I climb on is likely not your rock. Get thee to your local climbing shop and try on pair after pair. For me, every LaSportiva fits wonderfully....except for the TC Pros which have a serious hot spot. Mythos are wonderful as are the other 3 pairs of other LS brands. Scarpas fit awesome. Evolv are comfy, but I don't climb as well in them anymore. I use too, but no longer. They are still my go to shoe 90 percent of the time. ..cause...inertia.....that's why. I like long easy (aka "trad") routes. Steep technical stuff on nubbins blows my doors off. YRMV.
Ask around where you climb and then get thee to the local shoe place.
