Lansing MI Climbing Community

I’m moving to Lansing this summer, been living overseas most of my 20s, just psyched to get to know the community. Any Lansing climbers over here?

I find it crazy there’s no gym in this big college town. So I’m planning to build a moonboard and spray wall in my garage. What do climbaholics do to get their training in?

It would be cool to start some kind of garage/basement gym climbing club. If anyone’s interested, hit me up.

I'm in Lansing area.  i get to Planet Rock Ann Arbor as often as i can, and plan for trips down to the Red when i can get the PTO in.  Sometimes make it out to Grand Ledge to climb a bit of short outdoor TR laps.  But still doesn't really beat Planet Rock for sport climbing prep.

I’ll look into that commute. I wonder if there’s been any rumor of a climbing gym opening in lansing. Seems like a lot of people would put to play..

I had heard a possibility as a roumor.  But with Planet rock Just announcing their ground breaking on their largest gym yet in Grand Rapids i would have to imagine that was likely the one roumored and in the end GR won out over Lansing.  But i could be wrong.

Where did Planet Rock announce that? I just briefly looked and couldn’t find anything that was fresh info. I don’t have IG tho

I read that, but is that updated from the 2019 initiative that didn’t take off? No photos of the groundbreaking, progress updates for years, or public announcements regarding construction on FB lead me to question the progress.
