After receiving an AAC email alert yesterday, we headed to the local cinema and were rewarded with this beautifully conveyed story of Kris and Doug Tompkins, who preserved vast tracts of Patagonia. Rick Ridgeway and Yvon Chouinard play big roles in the story. Overall, the account of regionally reversing the worldwide trend of environmental degradation is touching and cathartic. Brought to us by the class act who brought us FREE SOLO. I highly recommend it!
FWIW some climbing is documented, including excerpts from the 1968 Funhog Expedition to Patagonia. Doug started The North Face and was an accomplished climber. Kris worked at Chouinard Equipment and became CEO of Patagonia Inc, and was largely responsible for its success.
