Miura VS Alternatives

Unfortunately I didn't send my Miura VS in soon enough to get resoled and it looks like the shoe is discontinued (at least for now).  I love the shoes, specifically the confidence they give me on small edges and how they fit my wide feet.  Anyone have any recommendations of alternatives I could look into?

Oliunid has virtually every size in both men’s and women’s in stock right now.

REI still has many sizes as well.

REI didn't have my size but I didn't find Oliunid before.  Thanks for the info!

They're not discontinued they're just going through a slight visual refresh. Glad they didn't change anything else about these perfect shoes.

I love the Muira VSes but alas I was getting really sick of my feet turning blue every time I climbed. (2 years of wear, this still happened incessantly) Anyway I switched to Solutions and like them similarly. Also, no blue feet.

I think that people would riot if they ever actually change the Miura.

I feel those ‘updates’ are largely a money grab. I still prefer the old testarossa fwiw.

Re: miura alternative: the new boostics are pretty good. A different shoe than the OG for sure, but not too dissimilar to the miura. Better for my wide feet.

To me it seems like a little bit of a money grab, but also like they are trying to visually update the entire line. Many of the shoes like the Miura have looked the same forever so I see why they are trying to refresh everything, even if I personally do not really like how the new models look. The old testarossa in particular looked super old school imo. I also do like the updated finale, I think making it a split sole so it is easier to resole is a nice touch.

As for Miura alternatives, The new Unparallel Pivot seems to be their Miura equivilent, but it is a much wider fit. The Acopa Specter is a very different shoe but fits the category of aggressive asymmetric hard edging shoe and also fits wider. The scarpa Boostics and Mago but it sounds the new versions are a lot softer than the old ones.

Have you considered the Muira laceup?

I know the fit and last isn't quite the same, but it should be pretty close.

The Muira lace is much narrower, probably not a good choice.

Looks like there are actually quite a lot of differences with the new miura. Narrower heel, midsole insert isn't full length anymore, the toe rubber has a notch cut into it to prevent excessive chafing on the big toe by letting the leather stretch out in that area. The shoe was close to perfect, but I think it is truly perfect now.

Personally I'm going to wait for the new one to come to our market. My gym owner has an order of the new miura vs put in and is expecting them soon.

I second the boostics. Marvelous shoe, and I own and regularly use the miura vs as well. The boostics won't smear quite as well as the miura but they edge a little better and are far more comfortable.

The "New" Miura VS is starting to come into stock here in Canada. I spent a bit of time with La Sportiva to shoot a short video specifically on what has changed on the new model which is now Live with Climb On Equipment and can be watched on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/8T-J3jh8fq0 .

In a nutshell, not much has changed from a practical perspective with the bulk being cosmetic. The heel has been tweaked although it is not a narrower fit but rather a narrower external profile making it a bit better for heel hooking. Fit-wise I found it to be nearly identical to the old version.

Hope this helps answer any questions people might have about this update to the Miura Vs. I have been wearing Miura's since they first came out and definitely was worried when I first saw they were updating this shoe although luckily they haven't changed any of the good parts and it's more or less the same minus a few subtle tweaks.

Really interested in the new heel, I have always adored the miura vs's heel if they have ruined it I will cry.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
