I’m a new climber, have only been a gym climber but I’m looking forward to make it outdoors as soon as I can. Tired of renting nasty shoes.
I found out recently that my foot shape is the “Roman” foot shape where the first 3 toes are essentially the same size.. the problem with that is many of the shoes I’ve looked at are pretty pointed so it leaves my big toe comfortable but the next 2 toes very curled. I’m in the market for a decent shoe that I can use in the gym and for those eventual trips outdoors. Any suggestions on a few pairs I should try out?
For your first pair of climbing shoes, you could get something like the Tarantulas/Tarantulace. Those have a fairly neutral foot shape and they're inexpensive. Most people wear through their first pair of shoes pretty quickly.
Congratulations you have the best foot shape for climbing shoes. Curled toes is good as long as they don’t hurt. scarpa helix is good shoes and don’t forget there is always everyone’s favorite climbingmachine the tc pro
Wow! Had no idea, I thought I had one of the worst size how sloped some climbing shoes are in the toe area.
Yeah I was thinking between the helix, finale or tarantula/tarantulace.. keep hearing how the first set of climbing shoes will be worn out extremely quick so I’ll probably just get the cheapest one. Thanks!
Congratulations you have the best foot shape for climbing shoes.
I’m not sure this aligns with my experience, most shoes have the big toe as the longest point and then slope down from there, sometimes quite sharply. In most shoes even when my big toe is lying flat, my 2nd and 3rd toes are getting crushed.
