Interested in starting the discussion about big wall, harnesses as they seem to be few and far between with minimal information about them. So what harness do you use and what do you like/dislike about it!

Yates shield. Hands down. I own or have owned almost every bigwall specific harness (including the new bdel long haul which, though an improvement for bigwall over their dogshit biggun, is still not ready for the aid-intensive big show) because I have issues with controlling my spending.

So what's your review on the long haul? I was about to pick one up.

Thanks kevin...  got me debating now.  Maybe I'll hold on to the big gun for a little longer.  I was definitely a bit upset to not see the upper gear loops.  As for the warmth, I'm guessing it's some sort of felt type liner it looked like.  That is soft and comforting, but yes not inviting on a hot day.  And why the smaller belay loops...  that apparently pull together.   Not smart for walling, with 2 daisy's, an alfifi and a rope tied into your main points I can see this is an issue.  Does it atleast still have the option to expand the tie in point like the big gun did?  I have mine fully open and it's still tight fitting all that gear.  I usually rock a chest harness and camelback with my big gun.  (Like to keep the weight mostly in my chest harness) and I'll do draws around the waist.  Looking forward to a follow-up from you on want it's like after a few days climbing/sleeping in it.

Not sure what you mean by extend the tie in point?

There's a little belt like buckle in the bottom hard point, you can extend it open farther to fit more junk.

Huh, I’ve never thought of extending the bottom of the hard point for that purpose (I’ve also never felt a need for more space either so never looked for a solution to that) I always thought that was there just to keep the rope from slipping away from the apex of the hard point.

The Long Haul has that as well

My thoughts as-well

I always thought that was so you could fully remove the legloops for whatever reason, not adjust for more space.  Interesting!

Misty mountain Cadillac. Very comfortable. 3 gear loops on each side . Only dislike is it takes up a lot of room in a pack . But for big wall it’s awesome

My main issue with the Cadillac (and the Titan, Misty’s specifically made for bigwall harness) is the high gear loops that theoretically help separate gear spacing but in practice with a heavy multi day load tends to pull the top of the harness down and pinches the hips.

The same issue arose with the previous version of Ocun’s venture into the bigwall world (Ocun WeeBee Quattro harness) but they’ve since corrected that and the Ocun Weebee Bigwall harness might be the ultimate IAD and/or fast and light bigwall harness and once I get my hands on the new version, it might even be a Yates Shield killer.

I cant wait to hear what you have to say sice I have been eyeing it down
