Does anyone have experience with the Mammut single boots? Specifically the Nordwand Knit High GTX. Been seeing these boots on ExpertVoice along with the 6000m High double boots and with the discount seem like a great deal for a lower 48 winter boot/Summer volcano boot.
My goal is to find something to replace my LS Trango Tower Extreme's with something warmer that can climb up through WI4 ice without much issue. These seem especially attractive due to the ExpertVoice pricing but I can't find many reviews on them.
There’s another thread on the Mammut Taiss High gtx that might help. I have a pair and like them a lot. Warm enough, light and not clunky like a lot of other boots. Not much ankle or calf support though so they did fine single pitch WI2 couldn’t say for WI4.
Yep. I wear both those and the 6000s, love em, but then they fit my feet very well….
Have you climbed any/much ice in them? Debating if it’s worth even getting the knits or if I should just get the 6000s for winter ice/mountaineering and keep my Trangos for 20F and up temps.
How do the knits fit compared to other brands/the 6000s? Can’t seem to find an answer on this anywhere.
Thanks for the input! Will probably pick up a pair of the highs or 6000s then! Wish ExpertVoice did returns so I could figure out my size. No good boot shops in Southern California haha.
How wide is your forefoot? I know the 6000s are considered roomier than LS boots but can’t tell with the Knits
I tried the Nordwand Knit High GTX. Unfortunately, they didn't fit my foot well. The knit component was very comfortable, but when I flexed my ankles when walking or climbing, the exo-skeleton dug into my ankles. I tried using heavier socks, changing the lacing, but still had this problem.
Sad, because they seem like very good boots and I know a lot of folks really like them.
