I am no alpine climber or legit mountaineering pro, simply a dirtbaghiker that loves to go backpacking and camping. I hike long miles or short, and I enjoy spending as much time as I can up in the mountains of NY, NJ and PA, in all 4 seasons. My usual set up is lightweight and I sleep in my bivy under a minimal tarp if the weather calls for it. My longest thru hike is 7 days, solo on the Northville-Placid trail thru the rugged and remote Adirondack Mountains in NY. I do get out often, well I try, even for a night or two.. make the best of what time i have. Anyway, just went out a few days ago for 2 nights in the Catskills to ride out a gnarly snow storm which ended up dumping close to 3 feet of wet heavy snow. I used my Black Diamond Hilight 3P tent with Vestibule and I will tell you, it held up perfectly! If anyone has any doubts about that tents snow loading capabilities.. check out my video of this trip and you will see facts! Figured I would share it here for anyone interested..
