Getting Tenaya Indalo, question about sizing

Hey yall, I have been looking at a pair of Tenaya Indalos as my first high end climbing shoes. I was looking at the tenaya sizing chart and it said that if my foot measures at 10in I should get a 7.5, but my normal shoe size is a 10 and I was planning on getting these in 9.5. Does anyone with first hand experience with these shoes or other tenaya products have any recommendation on which size I should get? Thanks!

Hey Alon, I found that going 2 sizes down from my street shoe was about perfect. (Similar to La Sportiva IMO.) For example, I am a US 9 street shoe, and a 7 Indalo/Mastia. That was a pretty sporty fit, so you could also start with 1.5 sizes down and see how it fits your foot - everyone is a bit different.

I wear size US10 street, 43 LS approach shoes, and most of my Sportiva shoes are size 40-40.5 (including TC pros). I got my indalos in UK size 6.5 , which I think is US 7, and the shoe fit really great out of the box, pretty comfortable in the toe. The issue I'm having now though is as the shoe has broken in, the heel has gotten looser and slides down my heel a bit at specific heel hook angles, so might go down an extra half size in the future.

Call Tenaya and talk to them - they put me in the right size for all 3 pair I have bought from them.  They know their products.

I checked their website and they have options for comfort fit and tighter fit. The tighter fit would be a size 8 and the comfort fit would be a size 8.5. Which would you recommend to someone who wants to get into sport climbing?

I would suggest calling and talking to someone - they were extremely helpful when I called and know their product better than anyone else.  But for what it's worth tighter is not always better - there comes  point where it's not worth it.  It kind of depends how hard you climb.  When I saw a guide cruise up a climb that was at my limit in approach shoes - I realized it wasn't tighter shoes.

I'm on my 2nd pair.  I don't know the length of my foot, but my "street shoe" size is 11.5 and I wear a 10.5 in every Tenaya shoe I've ever owned.  Oasi LV, Iati, Mundaka, and Indalo.  I think the advice to call them is your best bet, but I think if you were to size down to a 9, you'd probably be fine, and you might even be able to go down to an 8.5.  If it was me asking this question, I'd buy from somewhere that has an easy return process, get size 9 then exchange for the correct size if the 9 is too small or large.

How do these fit compared to the Oasi LV in your experience? I have had a lot of trouble finding a shoe where the heel fits perfectly, and the Oasi LV works really well for me. Is the Indalo's heel similar?

I’m looking at the indalos too. I currently have the lati and mundaka. How does the indalo compare to them? Bigger heel, bigger toe?

Hey! I am aware this is extremely late but I have both the indalos and the mundakas. They have similar toes but the heel on the indalos is way bigger, and protrudes farther out. I don't have a particularly big heel so this has made heel hooks very challenging for me, but I like the shoes for their grip on foot chips. Did you end up getting a pair of indalos?

Yep I got both shoes now. I like them both.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
