Good time to visit Horseshoe Canyon Ranch?

Didn't see a thread on this topic, if I'm thinking of visiting for a couple weeks around April or May is there any reason weather wise to try to push it towards the beginning of April or towards the end of May? As someone who has experienced Summer in Arkansas I definitely know I don't want that, but I recall Spring could be wet sometimes and especially with the rock being sandstone that could really put a damper on things. Hoping someone can provide a little insight.

Cheers!

late may could be hot as hell, went last year around mid may and had temps so hot we decided to float the buffalo instead (which is a must do in the area). also this ain’t western sandstone, you’ll be fine if it rains

Capiche. Good beta, thanks! Sounds like somewhere around mid April to early May might be the ticket.

If you go in 2024, there will be a total solar eclipse on April 8 in Little Rock.

Last week of April/ first of May is best bet weather wise.  Other maybe helpful information:  Ticks and poison ivy will be out in full force so be ready for that and if you're looking to climb cracks at HCR, be aware they stay pretty wet in the spring.   You can usually find dry cracks at Sam's.

HCR is a horseshoe shape so you should be able to find sun or shade no matter the temps. I'll tell you what though, I was at North40 a few weeks ago and I was shirtless and sweating by the afternoon.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
