Has anyone climbed in Long Canyon recently/know the status of the road?  Do people ever do the approach to Maverick Buttress from above off the road on the rim?  Thanks!

Someone asked about it on the Moab Off Road Info FB page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MoabOffRoad

Two posts from yesterday:

"Long canyon is a toboggan chute. There's been several recoveries on it lately. Chain up if you must try. "

"In moab right now - not passable as of today"

BUT.... that is likely talking about the steep bit up near the top. I have no idea about reaching the climbing crags from the bottom. Based on what was said about current conditions, I wouldn't try it top down.

Thanks, that link has been a great help!

It’s a really minor hike to get to maverick from the top. There’s a nice pull off on the right side to park at before you drop down into the slot.

Subaru/rav-able to Maverick from below today. Did not even attempt the upper, but a handful of stock 4wd vehicles passed through.

Got up there today in a Subaru forester from the. bottom.  Only 4wd rigs went above the maverick pulloff where the snow/mud starts.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
