I'm thinking of visiting Magic Wood for the 4th of July holiday and was looking to get some advice from those who have been before. I'm hoping to also venture into northern and/or central Italy while I am there. Does anyone have any advice on which airport(s) make the most sense? So far I'm leaning towards flying into Zurich, renting a car, driving to Magic Wood, then eventually making my way down to Milan, Bologna, Florence, etc. Has anyone here done a similar link-up? Did you rent a car for the entirety of the trip or is there a better (and cheaper) alternative? Any absolute must-see/-do things I should add to my list? Thanks, y'all!
Good point—I should’ve specified that I’ll have about 2 weeks to burn, which is the amount of time I’ve found sufficient for the other international trips I’ve gone on.
I’ll be sure to see if Hertz has a horse and buggy option while I’m over there.

Flying into Zürich makes sense. It's about a 1h45m-2h drive to ausserferrera from the airport. I haven't linked it with a trip into Italy. Not sure if rental cars would be cheaper if you fly in and out of Italy though. Maybe worth looking into. Everything in Switzerland is expensive.
Thank you, Tom! Where do you stay when you visit? Are you usually camping or are there nice huts / hotels / etc. that you recommend?

There's a great guesthouse called Gasthaus Walserstuba a few min up the road, with fantastic food. The owner / chef was a TV chef in Argentina or Child at some point before moving back to Switzerland, and the dishes are delicious. Very highly recommended but it's not the cheapest.
There's camping right at the entrance to the bouldering, and also a Hostel called Gasthaus Edelweiss that's very conveniently located. You can rent pads from the camping or the edelweiss. There are more hotels up the valley closer to Cresta, and probably also down valley.
